Dear Everybody Team,
I cannot BELIEVE we're about to start tech week. In honor of all the hard work that's been done and to decompress/ focus our energy, I'd like to share with you all an exercise that will benefit us as we move into the final days of rehearsal.
Take a piece of paper, and divide it into two sections. On one section, write down the things you're living for. What sparks joy? What motivates you? Are there certain people you're grateful for? Fill this section with all the things/ places/ people/ feelings/ thoughts you want to hold on to as you move through your day. On the other section, write down the things you want to release. What is holding you back? Are there lingering thoughts in your head that would be better off cast away? What is causing you stress? If you feel it, write it. It doesn't have to make sense, no one has to see it!
Now, take the list of things you'd like to release, and burn it. Or, if you don't like fire, just completely destroy it one way or another. Watch all the negative, stress-inducing thoughts dissipate. Once you've done that, keep your list of joy in a safe place, and come back to it when you feel it needs additions or want to remember the good things in your life.
This show can be heavy, and being in college while working on a show of this magnitude is no easy task. Take some time for yourself to reflect on this exercise and let it be beneficial to you.
