
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins
was 13 when he went to his first writing workshop. He graduated with a B.A. from Princeton and an M.F.A. from NYU. He went on to write Neighbors (2010), Appropriate (2012), An Octoroon (2014), and Gloria (2015) which have been highly acclaimed.

He began his residence at Signature Theatre in 2013, and wrote Everybody during his time there. Everybody at Signature was directed by Lila and the original cast included Jocelyn Bioh, Brooke Bloom, Michael Braun, Marylouise Burke, Louis Cancelmi, Lilyana Tiare Cornell, David Patrick Kelly, Lakisha Michelle May and Chris Perfetti.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is a recipient of the Obie Award for Best New American Play (Appropriate and An Octoroon) and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for Gloria and Everybody.
Everybody, as we know it today, came into being out of a series of workshops at Signature Theatre during the time Jacobs-Jenkins was in residence. The show opened on January 31, 2017 and ran until March 12 of the same year on the Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center.
